Darien, Conn – June 14, 2019 – Equestrian competition continued Friday in the jumper ring at the 88th Annual Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show, presented by the Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund, with the $5,000 Jumper Classic, sponsored by Darien Grill. Closing out the day as the spotlight class, it was Paige Jardine with the last-minute ride aboard Andrea Vogel’s Jackpot who ultimately captured the top prize after completing two clean and clear rounds in their first competition together.

Horse-and-rider combinations challenged Philip J. DeVita’s 12-effort track in the first round, but many fell victim to a rail at the final vertical and were unable to advance to the immediate jump-off course. Halfway into the order of go, Cyran Itzkovitz produced the first double-clear finish aboard Ellie O’Heaney’s Curious George in a steady time of 38.161 seconds. The next combination to jump clear across the two rounds was Samantha Ramsay and Nils On, owned by Equ Mac LLC, besting the leading time by nearly two seconds to finish on 36.68 seconds. Continuing the excitement, Angelo Danza followed with his own Euphoria two trips later, proving there was room for improvement as he stopped the clock in 34.337 seconds to change the lead once again.

Jardine followed suit as she entered next in the ring with Jackpot, flying to a time of 32.021 seconds, forcing the lead to change hands one final time. Cassandra Orpen and Donald Stewart’s Caddilac FS Z entered the ring after Jardine, hoping to improve on the winning time with a double-clear effort, but finished just shy with a time of 32.514 seconds to ultimately earn the second place award. Danza and Euphoria would capture third place, while Ramsay rode Nils On to the fourth place finish and Itzkovitz would round out the top five with Curious George.

Jackpot was initially entered in the $5,000 Jumper Classic with owner Vogel, but she was unable to make the class and assistant trainer Jardine stepped in to take over the reins. Although this marked the pair’s first class together, the 12-year-old Warmblood gelding was prepared for competition at the Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show after riding to Thursday’s 1.20m Jumper victory with Vogel. Coming off of wins at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show and Old Salem, Jackpot looks to continue his success in the Amatuer-Owner Jumper division with Vogel.
